Oma Maurice Hanson, 90, of DeLeon, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the DeLeon Nursing and Rehab. She was born on January 28, 1920 in Comanche County to Joseph Lee Land and Ava Wilson Land. She married Gerald Hanson on April 24, 1937 in Brownwood, Texas.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fair Haven Baptist Church of DeLeon under the direction of Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Family received friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Brother Kenneth Wilson officiated the service. Music was provided by LaRessie Wilkerson, Vicki Robinett and Roy Dale Freeman. Burial followed in the Downing Cemetery. Pallbearers were Colton Mathis, Matthew Iley, Walker Dailey, Matthew Locke, Ken Cooper, and Cory Speer. Honorary Pallbearers were David Mathis, Terry Mathis, Janet Mathis, and Jennifer Cooper.
Oma Maurice was a homemaker and had lived in the Comanche County area all of her life. She was a member of the Fair Haven Baptist Church
since 2005, and was previously a member of DeLeon Assembly of God Church. She also taught Bible Study at the local nursing homes. She loved quilting, flowers and plants, cooking, and she dearly loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Oma Mathis and husband Ray Seth of DeLeon; brother, Garnice Land of Hobbs, N.M.; grandchildren, David Ray Mathis and wife Elvia, Terry Mathis and wife Jamie, Janet Mathis, and Jennifer Cooper and husband Ken; great-grandchildren, Amy Mathis, Sara Locke, Matthew Iley, Walker Dailey, Colton Mathis, Kenny Cooper, Jade Cooper; great-grandchildren, Mattson Locke, Sophie Locke, Weston Locke and Maci Ellen Mathis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her husband of 57 years, Gerald Hanson; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
